New neutral wallpaper Solace makes her joyful debut

There are always parts of our lives, corners in our homes, times in our day, when we need the time and space to simply step back, take a moment and breathe. The idea behind new wallpaper Solace is to create a space in our home in which to do just that.

Inspired by our hand-knotted heirloom rug of the same name, Wendy felt a similar calming, soothing aspect could be achieved for walls too. Solace wallpaper enjoys the same combination of just four colours - gold, black, violet, and warm white - as the rug does, but now you can fully immerse yourself in the soothing sensation with our newest wallpaper offering.

Introducing our newest wallpaper design, Solace. Paired here with our Plumage Gold Hand-Tufted Rug

The original design was inspired by intricate, detailed embroidery and you can still see that reflected in the design of the wallpaper. Elegant gold cranes - a symbol of longevity, good fortune, integrity, balance and devotion, pairs of cranes often represent a long and happy relationship - soar above slim strands of foliage and exotic orchids. Glorious orchid blooms are a powerful symbol in Far Eastern philosophy, representing beauty, charm, love, refinement, and thoughtfulness.

As with many of Wendy’s designs, the power and influence of nature is clear, with all aspects of the natural world co-existing in harmony. The gold, black and warm white create a glamorous, neutral backdrop, lifted with a touch of violet on each crane’s head.

Our new Solace wallpaper was inspired by our hand-knotted heirloom rug of the same name, Wendy felt a similar calming, soothing aspect could be achieved for walls too.

The small splash of violet is deliberate; although almost any colour might have worked here visually, violet is recognised as a spiritual, reflective colour, one that encourages deeper thinking. The simple colour combination does much to create a sense of luxury and sophistication, as well as a space to take time to pause and reflect.

The combination of gold, black and white is always powerful, and this is a wallpaper design that will bring glamour to any interior space. It is a wallpaper with impact, but also one that is easy to live with; that soothes the senses and helps to create that space for reflection.

Gold, one of our favourite neutrals, can always be relied upon to make a space feel light and luxurious, and is incredibly easy to style around. Gold is a mood-boosting colour that draws the eye and attention, but will always complement other, surrounding colours without overwhelming them; a colour that says, ‘there is plenty of room for all of us here’. Used with this warm white backdrop, the gold is warm too, adding to the peaceful, comforting, nurturing sense of  this wallpaper.

The gold, black and warm white create a glamorous, neutral backdrop, lifted with a touch of violet on each crane’s head.

The simple luxury of this colour and pattern combination might make you think of Solace as the ideal choice for a bedroom, where she does work beautifully when creating a sanctuary, a space to escape to. But her reflective, contemplative, nature makes her a good fit for pretty much any room in the house. Introduce soaring gold cranes to a home office setting and allow your creativity to flow; bring this light and spacious design into a narrow hallway for a complete transformation; or create a cool, calm and collected dining space.

Available in four panels, with each panel 3m in length, each roll is 68.5cm wide. Ideal for a feature wall, we love the idea of covering every wall with Solace and completely immersing yourself in the soothing sensation. Wendy has styled Solace wallpaper with Eternal Toile fabric, which has been made into curtains and re-upholstered on a vintage chaise, in her own home. ‘I found this to be a wonderfully calming combination,’ Wendy says. ‘Two neutrals, both with important stories to share, working harmoniously together.’

Wendy chose to pair our Solace wallpaper with our equally calming design Eternal Toile. Seen here in our Eternal Toile linen fabric and Eternal Toile Crewel (hung as curtains)

We also teamed Solace wallpaper with our new Plumage Gold rug and love the results. The patterns may be dramatically different, but the gold and black of Plumage is a gorgeous combination with Solace on the walls - two luxurious neutrals work to balance each other, rather than fighting against each other.

Whether you opt to cover one wall or choose to immerse yourself in this inspiring wallpaper, she is a wallcovering worth experimenting with. There are an infinite number of colour combinations Solace would instantly be at home in. And we are sure she is one wallpaper that will always make you pause for thought and smile.

Our new Solace wallpaper is available with 15% off until Friday 18th August.
