Add richness, texture & warmth with crewel stitch

Crewel stitching is a type of surface embroidery using wool. The technique is at least 1000 years old. Many different embroidery stitches are used in crewelwork to create a textured and colourful effect. Unlike silk or cotton embroidery threads, crewel wool is thicker and creates a raised, dimensional feel to the work, adding warmth and interest to your room. You can watch a crewel stitch rug being made here.

Crewel stitch rugs are much more lightweight than standard rugs and can therefore also be used as wallhangings and bedspreads. Prices start at £195.

Designed with passion, expertly hand crafted

Each rug is designed with passion and handmade in India by local artisans who learn the craft, passed down through generations.  We only use the finest pure wool & viscose. The thread count is high, as is the pile and this ensures that our rugs feel luxurious and will retain their quality for years.

We’re passionate about responsibility too. All of our rugs carry the Goodweave label. GoodWeave is a global, not-for-profit organisation which is responsible for operating the GoodWeave certification programme internationally. Goodweave work to end illegal child labour in the rug industry and to offer educational opportunities to children in South Asia.
