Jardin De Chinois - Hand Knotted Rug

Hand Knotted Rugs

Jardin de Chinois takes inspiration from Chinoiserie, the decorative art with nature, tropical birds, flowers and elaborate scenery at its heart. A rich, deep-blue wool base is the perfect backdrop for hand-knotted gold motifs and a handful of pretty tropical birds. Golden grasses blend with the slim trunk of a plum blossom tree; shimmering gold leaves, tendrils and branches stretch upwards, and birds soar and perch, while a crane, which represents longevity and peace, stands elegantly by the base.

A striking design with a double gold border, this is a rich, sumptuous heritage rug, crafted by artisans using centuries-old techniques.

'When there’s an opportunity to add birds to a design, I'm going to take it. Whether it’s cranes for long life or peacocks for beauty. In graceful flight or perched on a branch, they’re an upbeat and joyful reminder of nature in art. Birds make it easy to bring the outdoors in.'
