The right décor can transform your home into a personal sanctuary – somewhere that gives you the feeling of peace and joy. Re-imagining your space can also fulfil the need for creative expression; something we’re very passionate about at Wendy Morrison Design.

To be creative is to escape into your imagination and feel free to be yourself. Our Creative Director, Wendy Morrison, did just that when she created this restful Secret Garden bedroom mood board (above). Inspired by nature and oriental design, it balances intricately detailed furniture alongside soothing greens and pinks.

For the love of pattern

Embracing pattern is a simple shortcut to a stylish boudoir. Patterns with lush green leaves and tropical blooms will give an exotic, uplifting ambience. Also, smaller floral or leaf designs in soft colours are perfect for adding calm and tranquillity. After all, bringing a feeling of nature indoors is one of life’s joys.

Here are a few patterned finds that work well alongside our Secret Garden rug:

Arbre De Matisse Fabric Chaise from Chairish.com

And, what’s the perfect pillow for the chaise? We’re slightly obsessed with this one:

Kachel Maryrose Pillow from Anthropologie

For exotic opulence, you can’t go wrong with a beautiful bird fabric like this design discovered on Chairish:

Unique is beautiful

If you’re anything like us, we know you value quality over quantity. Extraordinary, unique and handcrafted pieces are treasured for a lifetime. Better to have less clutter, but more of what you love. Individually crafted pieces of art and furniture will let your home reflect your personality.

When you need light, at least make it special:

Vintage is often the way to go:

The ornate sideboard, bedside tables and bed frame in Wendy’s mood board are all from Anthropologie – a treasure trove of eclectic furniture:

Seeking peace with pinks

It’s simpler than you think to bring a sense of calm to your bedroom. Ground your space with soft pinks – a colour associated with romance, peace and love. Pink has also been found to have a calming effect on the nerves, relieving feelings of anger and anxiousness.

Our homes are now our sanctuaries like never before and the beauty of a designer rug, of course, is that you can simply lay it down and it can completely change the look of your space. No hassle or fiddling with colour combinations. We’ve done the hard work for you. Secret Garden is a chinoiserie inspired bedroom rug with a pink wool base, detailed with stunning gold branches and brightly coloured birds.
