Why viscose?

Why viscose?

Mandela Viscose detail

The use of viscose is prominent in Wendy Morrison rugs. It is used in every rug from Wendy’s latest collection, ‘Orient’. And here she explains why.

“Viscose has the gorgeous lustre and feel of silk but is much more affordable so it’s a way of offering luxury without the hefty price tags that silk rugs command. Although it blends well with other fibres I really enjoy its contrast appearance with wool and its ability to be easily dyed and retain beautiful vivid colours.  I think ‘Mandela Viscose’ (below) from the Mandela collection is a good example of why I use viscose – the lustre creating contrast and highlighting subtle design details.”

If you would rather hold out for silk then look out for our new Curated Collection, which we are launching with the Raika Rug, our first handknotted, wool and silk rug.  It will be available soon.
